Help, My ZR2['99']Rear Brakes Locked

Postby Denarky on Sat Mar 22, 2008 9:45 am

Hello, I'm new here, I just put new disc pads on my rear brakes and they are locked....at least, they won't release and are getting hot. Am I missing something? I compressed the calipers with a "C" clamp....did I mess up....is it something to do with the emergency brake? :(

Parking brake on your 99 ZR2 operates a separate shoe than the disk pads.

When you put your new pads on, did you clean up the calipers to ensure the pins slide freely?

Well, it was the calipers...they stuck when we pressed them with a C-clamp....tried air pressure to get them freed up but to no avail. New calipers were $38.50ea., so it was probly what we should have done anyway. Lessons learned....
